Memo to VS | Sophia Neophitou on Kate Upton Nastygram Gaining Traction

We have no word if Victoria's Secret Fashion Show casting director Sophia Neophitou got off her snooty woman perch in London to attend any Oscar parties last night. But Kate Upton was there, looking particularly fabulous.

VS has always believed that there's no such thing as bad publicity -- and of course they know best. Our page reads on my delayed response to Neophitou's negative comments that Victoria's Secret would never use Kate Upton in the annual fashion show because she looks like a Page 3 (The Sun in London) footballer's wife are through the roof.

Readers caused me to respond again this morning to the insult as part of a larger fashion industry woman hate issue. Misogyny expresses itself in many forms and women like Sophia Neophitou perpetuate it, right along with Karl Lagerfeld.

I love Kate's response that Gisele is a footballer's wife, which puts her in good company. The Kaiser's most recent flap focused on his first response to questions about Adele's talent, saying she's too fat. Like Kate Upton, Adele told her fashion monasticism critic where to stuff his commentary about her weight.

If the executives at Victoria's Secret assume that the insults cast Kate's way will die down, they are probably right. But today the whole story is gaining major momentum and yesterday it was the biggest story in the history of Anne of Carversville.

My thoughts this morning on Sophia Neophitou's unbelievably haughty and nasty remarks about Upton:

I’ve connected the dots between fashion and flogging since 2007. Top fashion industry stylists like Sophia Neophitou make moral judgement calls on women, just like the Catholic bishops. The whole damn world is fighting over women’s bodies and many of us have just “had it” with fashion monasticism and woman hate from fashion designers like Karl Lagerfeld to stylists like Neophitou to social conservative investors in nonprofit skin care companies.

American women are fighting for our rights to birth control in this country, and Victoria’s Secret is condemning Kate Upton as not their kind of girl. On this subject, I will have to check in with Marilyn, because she fought the same fight, being judged by elitists like Neophitou and condemned by the clergy

Victoria’s Secret may have unintentionally started a rumble here, as even they are condemned indirectly by Republican candidates for president. VS is a leader in what Santorum calls the corruption and secularism of American culture. The candidate literally damned the word 'sensuality'.  I am proud of my 10-year involvement in Victoria’s Secret, in the glory days of building the brand.

Kate Upton @ Muse Magazine, Says Gisele Is Footballer's Wife AOC Body

If Sophia Neophitou thinks the ideal VS woman is Anja Rubik, this woman Anne says "no way".  Read my thoughts on the stylist's comments to the New York Times in:

VS Stylist Says Kate Upton Is Too Fat; Anja Is Perfect? AOC Body

Let’s put the common Kate and haute Anja side-by-side. Remember that fashion monasticism doesn’t believe in visible sexuality in the same way that Sarah Jessica Parker is proud that she never had sex on ‘Sex and the City’.

We’re talking about a different breed of fashion female role model here and sexuality is not part of her mindset.

Make that Bombay Sapphire martini a double please … and don’t count out Kate Upton quite so fast, Sophia Neophitou. Mr Razek may just go around your narrow, authoritative vision. Retro pinups are all the rage in fashion this season.
