Welcome to New York's new High Line urban park, anchored at 14th Street by the sexy new Standard Hotel. These open-for-business NYC destinations have a thriving and incestuous relationship in the making.
Viewer discretion has always been advised at Standard Hotels. Sex is part of their brand DNA. But now Stan D'Arde, the hotel's blogger, is asking 'patrons' to document their latest erotic escapdes on the blog.
Nude photos can be emailed to the hotel, or . . . uploaded directly onto the Standard's Facebook page. Why Not!!!
NY Mag reported in early June that hotelier André Balazs, who has cited the “exhibitionist” nature of his building, ran ads inviting guests to move into the hotel while it was still under construction. “We’ll put up with your banging if you put up with ours,” read the ad, which pictured a nicely oiled woman naked but for a tool belt, her left hand gripping the head of a long hammer.
Workers in those businesses still operating in New York's Meatpacking District say that they're getting a real eyefull from the Standard. No need to go home and watch RedTube. Mayor Bloomberg's words at the High Line's ribbon cutting seem to have an extended meaning, given the 'sordid' tales coming out of The Standard.
The High Line Ribbon Cutting, Filmed from The Standard Hotel
New York Mag reports that the classic cop ‘up against the wall’ pose -- only up against the window -- is standard operating procedure at The Standard. Forget 'Lights out, this is a deliberate peep show for all parties concerned.
I picked up this story reading today's NYTimes story about the High Line, the spectacular new urban park renovation of the West Side railroad lines, 30 feet about ground. See For High Line Visitors, Park Is a Railway Out of Manhattan.
As for me, well I just posted my first RedTracker video on YouTube, taking us on a quick tour of the High Line/Standard neighborhood. Enjoy. Anne
