Image credit: GettyKate Upton raised her post-Sporting Illustrated profile with editorials in Esquire and Vogue Spain and a hot topic piece in American Vogue.
Above Kate celebrated her GQ spread, shot by Terry Richardson, wearing a studded Versace dress to an outdoor BBQ party June 25. The evening anchored the menswear shows at Milan Fashion Week.
For her Vogue feature the 20-year-old is swathed in Michael Kors and Altuzzura. London's Daily Mail writes that there's not a hint of cleavage in sight in Kate Upton's Sebastian Kim images for the July issue.
It seems that Vogue is aligned with my view that Kate has high potential as a model. What that haughty Victoria's Secret fashion show stylist Sophia Neophitou doesn't understand is that her comments about Kate's face and look hit many of us in the kisser.
Fashion, Flogging & Too Blonde Women
Because I cover women's lives from fashion to flogging, Neophitou's comments hit me as sounding like they were coming out of the Vatican. Reading them, it was clear that she would say the same about me -- in her condescending, superficial, judgmental attitude about how women should look as models and as standards of beauty.
My hair also is "too-blond" and my face is also one that "anyone with enough money can go out and buy." Presumably, I also look like "a footballer's wife". As a former executive with Victoria's Secret who made more money for the company than Neophitou can ever imagine, let me remind her that the vast majority of Victoria's Secret executives are "too blonde". Her insults were thrown at most top members of the VS executive organization.
At least in America, we are full up to our eyeballs in transvaginals probes of our private parts as the Republican party tries to take over our bodies decades after women were granted the right to birth control. Victoria's Secret is an American brand and a key leader in how women express our sexuality. I've criticized the brand more than once for not taking a stronger leadership position on critical topics surrounding female sexuality.

Kate Upton Should Be In 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Quite frankly, I think Victoria's Secret should seriously commit to using Kate Upton in the 2012 fashion show because she clearly has the body, and a strong American following. Reading the comments about Kate's Vogue pics over at Fashion Spot, it was the clear-headed ones who said "You wouldn't even know she was Kate Upton without the info. That woman looks great as a model."
The majority of Victoria's Secret customers won't boycott the brand if they use Kate Upton. Also, December is the one time of year, save V-Day in February -- when men heavily ring the VS cash registers. Can I be any clearer?

YouTube Lets Kate Upton's 'Cat Daddy' Stand As Social Conservatives Protest
BigDaddy YouTube Reinstates Kate Upton Video
Today's NY Daily News features Alexander Tamargo's image of Kate Upton -- much better imho than Terry Richardson's -- to update us on status of Kate's 'Cat Daddy' video on YouTube. Kate's rather salacious new video, released a couple days ago, was abruptly taken down on YouTube Wednesday morning for violating the website's rules on nudity and sexual content.
I can attest to Kate's assertion that there are many more videos on YouTube with much more salacious content. As is always the case with the demands by social conservatives that content is pornographic, their condemnation will drive video views higher.
YouTube officials eventually reached the same conclusion, writes NY Daily News.
BigDaddy YouTube Took Down Flogging Video, Too
My own experience with YouTube acting as the morality police is more serious. They consistently pulled down a terrible video of a woman being flogged in Sudan, because the floggers demanded it. Coincidentally, I just reposted this video after the April 28 Unite Against the War on Women national march. Read Republican Sue Helm Circled PA Unite Against the War on Women, Says Sudanese Activist Watching Her Hummer.
The video files were next smuggled out of Sudan to women's rights bloggers like myself. Posting the horrific video under the Anne of Carversville name on Vimeo, I knew it would stand. Then I contacted Bloomberg News as others reached out to CNN and the BBC.
Only after the major media let the flogging video stand on their websites, did YouTube relent on their own decision to ban it.
Fashion's Rarified Elite Judge Kate Unfit to Walk Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
There's no doubt that Kate is shakin' boobs and booty in 'Cat Daddy'. She seems to be managing her career just fine, catching Rick Santorum's eye at the White House Correspondent's Dinner last weekend.
Who are we to judge her? And let me say that many bloggers picked up the wrong image of what Kate Upton wore to the WHCD. In reality, she dressed impeccably.
Although Sophia Neophitou asserts that Kate will never walk in a Victoria's Secret fashion show, I'm not so sure.
