YouTube Lets Kate Upton's 'Cat Daddy' Stand As Social Conservatives Protest

Kate Upton by Alexander Tamargo/Getty ImagesX-posted on AOC Body

BigDaddy YouTube Reinstates Kate Upton Video

Today's NY Daily News features Alexander Tamargo's image of Kate Upton -- much better imho than Terry Richardson's -- to update us on status of Kate's 'Cat Daddy' video on YouTube. Kate's rather salacious new video, released a couple days ago, was abruptly taken down on YouTube Wednesday morning for violating the website's rules on nudity and sexual content.

I can attest to Kate's assertion that there are many more videos on YouTube with much more salacious content. As is always the case with the demands by social conservatives that content is pornographic, their condemnation will drive video views higher.

YouTube officials eventually reached the same conclusion, writes NY Daily News.

“With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make the wrong call,” said a spokeswoman for the site.

“When it’s brought to our attention that a video has been removed mistakenly, we act quickly to reinstate it.”

BigDaddy YouTube Took Down Flogging Video, Too

My own experience with YouTube acting as the morality police is more serious. They consistently pulled down a terrible video of a woman being flogged in Sudan, because the floggers demanded it.  Coincidentally, I just reposted this video after the April 28 Unite Against the War on Women national march. Read Republican Sue Helm Circled PA Unite Against the War on Women, Says Sudanese Activist Watching Her Hummer.

The video files were next smuggled out of Sudan to women's rights bloggers like myself. Posting the horrific video under the Anne of Carversville name on Vimeo, I knew it would stand. Then I contacted Bloomberg News as others reached out to CNN and the BBC.

Only after the major media let the flogging video stand on their websites, did YouTube relent on their own decision to ban it.

Fashion's Rarified Elite Judge Kate Unfit to Walk Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

There's no doubt that Kate is shakin' boobs and booty in 'Cat Daddy'. She seems to be managing her career just fine, catching Rick Santorum's eye at the White House Correspondent's Dinner last weekend.

Who are we to judge her? And let me say that many bloggers picked up the wrong image of what Kate Upton wore to the WHCD. In reality, she dressed impeccably.

Although Sophia Neophitou asserts that Kate will never walk in a Victoria's Secret fashion show, I'm not so sure.

“We would never use” Ms. Upton for a Victoria’s Secret show, Ms. Neophitou said by telephone last week from London.

Brain Science Studies the Minds of Social Conservatives vs Liberals

Miley Cyrus recently celebrated her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth's birthday by licking up his birthday cake. It's a pretty gross sight, but so is right-wing The Culture and Media Institute's response. The penis cake has gone viral and traveled far further in cyberspace -- including to Sensuality News -- than it ever would if they had just left the matter alone.

The Culture and Media Institute, whose goal is to "preserve and help restore America's culture, character, traditional values, and morals against the assault of the liberal media elite" -- that would be us -- calling Miley's behavior "disgusting". The group has previously gone after the disruptive Miley, saying she's "become the epitome of the anti-role model for young girls" writes Huff Po.

This stalking of bad-girl Hollywood types brings back visions of the McCarthey era in America, as it also singles out Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan's new film 'Bachelorette', a story of a sex-filled pre-wedding weekend. The film is hot at the Sundance Film Festival for its female-centric raunchy humor.  The Hollywood Reporter isn't thrilled with the movie's execution but makes it clear that the plot goes beyond another disgusting attempt at girls gone wild, as suggested by CMI. In their own words:

Movies like "Bachelorette" and disgusting behavior like Cyrus' may be part of the "real world" of Hollywood, where casual sex is celebrated and frequent divorce is almost a rite of passage. But it is not the real world, because in the real world, sleazy behavior has consequences.

What's surprising is that there's a lot of push back in the comments, and unlike so much right-wing commentary on Huff Po and The Daily Beast, people are actually constructing logical arguments against CMI. Bravo!

Progressive Pushback on CMI

We posted another article today about women who have affairs on Ashley Madison, the website for marrieds. Progressive women like myself get bashed all day long by groups like CMI for unleashing a torrent of promiscuous sexual behavior. And then I read a quote from Ashley Madison:

Reviewing other research about women who are adulteresses, married people’s affair website Ashley Madison reported in 2010 that of the 31,427 women who signed up the day after Mother’s Day, 67 percent identified themselves as stay-at-home moms. Take that, social conservatives!!

Scientifically-speaking, much of the problem between the official morals of The Culture and Media Institute vs the actually morality of social conservatives' behavior may result from the differences in our brains. Trust me, I make no excuses for for Miles Cyrus licking the penis cake.

I quote an article from AOC's Daily French Roast last Friday:

Daily French Roast

Anne is reading …

Wired magazine presents Human Nature and the Neurobiology of Conflict, a Nebraska study focused on how liberals and conservatives process the same information. Brain science is a high-value topic at AOC.

In this case Michael Dodd of the U of Nebraska wanted to explore how conservatives and liberals process images alternately disgusting (spiders on faces, open wounds) and appealing (smiling children, cute rabbits.) “Dodd’s team found that conservatives reacted most strongly to negative images, and liberals most strongly to positive photographs.”

NYT R&R: 'Teaching Good Sex' | Men Aren't Funnier | Internet Love & Lies

It seems that the NYT is spending more time than ever on dating, relationships and  sex ed research -- which is a good thing. Sex ed, contraception, abortion rights -- everything is under fire in the Republican War on Women and the social conservative's war on sex.

The big weekend read from NYT Magazine is the cover story Teaching Good Sex by Laurie Abraham, author of 'The Husbands and Wives Club: A Year in the Life of a Couples Therapy Group. One of the final points in the excellent and informative read is that parents who embrace the positive value of sex ed aren't nearly as vocal in communicating their views as social conservatives who want an end to sex ed in the schools.

Abraham profiles Al Vernacchio, who teaches Sexuality and Society at Philadelphia's Friends' Central, an affluent Main Line school and has never had a complaint from a parent since he arrived in 1998.

The lessons that tend to raise eyebrows outside the school, according to Vernacchio, are a medical research video he shows of a woman ejaculating — students are allowed to excuse themselves if they prefer not to watch — and a couple of dozen up-close photographs of vulvas and penises. The photos, Vernacchio said, are intended to show his charges the broad range of what’s out there. “It’s really a process of desensitizing them to what real genitals look like so they’ll be less freaked out by their own and, one day, their partner’s,” he said. What’s interesting, he added, is that both the boys and girls receive the photographs of the penises rather placidly but often insist that the vulvas don’t look “normal.” “They have no point of reference for what a normal, healthy vulva looks like, even their own,” Vernacchio said. The female student-council vice president agreed: “When we did the biology unit, I probably would’ve been able to label just as many of the boys’ body parts as the girls’, which is sad. I mean, you should know about the names of your own body.”

Indeed, much of the classroom focus illuminates that reality that porn doesn't represent healthy human sexuality.

Pornography “gives boys the impression that the girl is there to do any position you want, or to please you, or to, you know, role-play to your liking,” reports one of the students interviewed by Abraham. “But yesterday, when Mr. V. said there is no romanticism or intimacy in porn, porn is strictly sexual — I’d never thought about that.”

Pleasure in sex ed was a major topic last November at one of the largest sex-education conferences in the country, sponsored by the education arm of Planned Parenthood of Greater Northern New Jersey. “Porn is the model for today’s middle-school and high-school students,” Paul Joannides said in the keynote speech. “And none of us is offering an alternative that’s even remotely appealing.”

Students are taught that 70 percent of women don't climax from vaginal penetration alone. The boys admit they are shocked to learn this fact of reality. After all, the porn girls are screaming their brains out in ecstasy.

The Guttmacher Institute believes that 70 percent of teenagers have had sexual intercourse by their 19th birthday. Unlike sex ed in most classrooms in America, Vernacchio is allowed to speak of the pleasure in quality sex.

Condoms, Westboro Baptist Church Come to NYC Fashion Week | Is Carrie Bradshaw Far Behind?

Rebecca Minkoff has designed the latest collection of condoms for safe sex lovers (that should be all of us!). Proper Attire, a project of Planned Parenthood, launched the latest condom collection at Minkoff's Spring 2012 designer show.

With proceeds benefiting Planned Parenthood, the condoms will be sold at RebeccaMinkoff.com, ProperAttireCondoms.com, Minkoff's boutiques, Confederacy in Los Angeles, the Soho and Tribeca Grand Hotels, and selected Babelands. Minkoff has also added a condom to her bags and clutches.

Simply stated, Smart Sensuality women of every age -- and especially young women of any age with the support of their equally-smart parents who only want what's best for them in life --  use birth control if they are sexually active or could be.

There is no reason for a smart woman not to have a condom with her at all times. Bravo Rebecca Minkoff, who is about to give birth any day now. via FashionEtc.

Family Values Strikes Again

In the aftermath of ABC's 'Pretty Little Liars' star Emily Fields coming out as a lesbian earlier this year, the ultra-conservative Florida Family Association launched a campaign against advertisers on the show.

Calling photos like this one "irresponsible imagery", the FFA described the show as "using salacious and glamorizing scenes portraying young, pretty women as lesbians", saying it "sends the wrong message to these young girls, a message that reinforces and legitimizes this homosexual lifestyle in a manner that could affect these young girls' sexual identity for a lifetime."

Remax pulled their ads almost immediately from the show. E!Online reports that this week General Mills announced that they are pulling their ad support. When asked by AfterEllen.com if GM pulled the ads due to lesbian content, a rep for the company said that was not the reason.

"The decision is entirely based on the relevance of the show's audience for our brands, not because of the sexual orientation of individual characters." the rep told the website.
