A Schizoid Victoria’s Secret Holiday 2012 Message

There are moments when I want Victoria's Secret to decide what it wants to be when it grows up. These beautiful images of Candice Swanepoel, Miranda Kerr, Barbara Palvin, Erin Heatherton and Bregje Heinen are the faces of the lingerie brand’s holiday 2012 catalogue. Indeed, they feel 'Heaven Sent'.

By contrast, this video of the Angels singing Christmas carols is so forced, it borders on being just stupid. Last year's VS Christmas singing video was great. This one gets a thumbs down from me. ~ Anne

VS Lowers PR Volume on Miranda Kerr & Fantasy Treasure Bra

Victoria's Secret has downplayed the introduction of this year's $2.5 million Fantasy Teasure Bra, created exclusively for the world's biggest lingerie brand by London Jewelers.

Miranda Kerr models the diamond and gemstone covered Fantasy Treasure Bra in the Victoria's Secret Christmas Dreams and Fantasies Catalogue and in the upcoming 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion show, broadcast on CBS on November 29th 10/9C.

Valued at $2.5 million, the Fantasy Treasure Bra is handset with nearly 3400 precious gems, including white and yellow diamonds, pearls, citrines and aquamarines, all set in 18 karat white and yellow gold. The bra is inspired by an underwater dreamland of luxury, exotic glamour and sexy aquatic Angels. The centerpiece tassel is adorned with t wo exquisite white diamonds, over 8 carats each, and two astonishing yellow diamonds, over 14 carats each. Overall, the bra features 142 carats of diamonds.  All of the magnificent gems were embroidered onto Victoria‘s Secret Gorgeous Push-up Bra frame with custom scalloping. The intricate design of the bra required an inspection of over 10,000 stones from around the world to find the perfect colored, sized and shaped gems. These images show our favorite Russell James behind the lens, with Miranda Kerr being her wonderful, gorgeous, real-woman self. Personally, I'd prefer Miranda as a goddess-rising type, dressed out in the jewelry featured next in Vogue Gioiello.

I find the weight of the VS Angel wings absurd, as a symbol of the pressures women are under in today's world.

Wings that hobble women are a weighty distraction in America, where all Republican candidates for president are prepared to take away a woman's right to birth control through their support of the personhood amendment. Republicans seek to outlaw all forms of abortion and de facto, most forms of birth control along with it.
